Dr Anthony Dear

Dr Dear completed his Medical Degree, with Honours, at Monash University. In 1997 Dr Dear obtained his PhD from Monash University examining the molecular biological control of components of the plasminogen activating system. Dr Dear continued his clinical training at Monash University’s Alfred Hospital and Eastern Health Clinical School and currently holds an appointment at Eastern Health as a clinical consultant in Vascular Medicine. Dr Dear concurrently holds a Senior Research Fellow appointment at Monash University’s Eastern Health Clinical School and The Australian Centre for Blood Diseases (ACBD) where he heads the Eastern Clinical Research Unit (ECRU) Translational Research Laboratory. Dr Dear is involved in numerous scientific collaborations with national and international research groups including the NCRE-PAD, is past Acting and Deputy Director of ECRU and is principle and co-investigator in national and international clinical trials in multiple disciplines with a particular interest in vascular diseases. Dr Dear consults to Healthscope Pathology and was instrumental in establishing pharmacogenetic services in relation to anti-coagulant and anti-platelet therapy. Dr Dear is a member of the Australian Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ASTH) and the Australian Vascular Biology Society (AVBS).
