Peripheral arterial diseases in general have been relatively neglected in terms of the specific development of diagnostic or prognostic aids. Focused treatment options are similarly limited. As part of a number of initiatives to advance these current deficiencies we have established a tissue, DNA and blood biobank to forward studies on peripheral artery diseases. The biobank includes samples obtained from patients undergoing surgical treatments and blood samples from patients who have been imaged for diseases of the peripheral arteries. Groups currently contributing to this biobank include: The Townsville Hospital, The Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Christchurch Hospital, The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and The Princess Alexandra Hospital. Recruitment will be commencing shortly at the Fremantle Hospital and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital
We are seeking other centres that would be interested in collaborating in this area and can provide a package of ethics documents that will help in obtaining ethical approval at your site. The CRE also has provision to assist in sample collection. For further information or to register your interest please contact Alexandra Golledge: Alexandra.Golledge@jcu.edu.au.
